2024 Birthday Run

This year’s run is earlier because on 25th May we are having a dinner at the clubrooms to celebrate the clubs 50th Birthday as May 25th was the date of the first meeting.

50^th BIRTHDAY RUN 4^th to 5^th May 2024

TIMING, ACCOMMODATION AND RUN INFORMATION.

SATURDAY 4^th MAY

We will leave from the CLUBROOMS at 8am SHARP so please arrive between 7.30am and 8am with a full tank of fuel and your toothbrush. For those on the other side of town we have added another meeting site, Shell Bunker Hill Garage Hume Highway outbound Kalkallo 9am departure.

The route to SHEPPARTON 250Km (2.5Hrs) will be via the Monash to the City, City Link towards the Airport with a turn off onto the Ring Rd beforehand, pass under the Hume then take the bypass turn off finally continuing along the Hume to the Goulburn Vally Highway then on to Shepparton.

If you wish to join the convoy along the way, please let us know in advance (mobile numbers please) so we can keep an eye out and communicate with you.

“MOVE” …. The AUTO MUSEUM is at 7723 Goulburn Valley Highway KIALLA and we should arrive at around 10.30am with the cost of Entry being $16 per person.

The Museum has been fully refurbished and the Milestone Café/Coffee Shop virtually next door will be prewarned of our arrival and on-site parking is excellent.

From here (remember to refuel) we must leave at 12noon to travel to Goorambat which is 55Km (45min) to arrive at the GOORAMBAT RAILWAY HOTEL 59 Halls Rd. at around 12.45pm.

The SILO ART is at 49 Halls Rd, other silos are close so, depending on timing you may wish to see them as well after our easy lunch.

Jacqui and Mark (local farmers) our hosts have the best steaks and lamb chops all sourced from their own farm so the meal should be mouth-watering good.

At around 2.45pm we will head off to ELDORADO which is about 55Km (40min) away, have a look around and check out the old Gold Dredge using the Eldorado / Byawatha Rd in the town, to get there and then off to BEECHWORTH which is about 29Km (25min) away or you can go straight to Beechworth from Goorambat 93Km (65min) bypassing Eldorado and miss seeing the largest gold dredge in the Southern Hemisphere.

IN CASE YOU ARE UNAWARE…. the BEECHWORTH OLD CRANKS MOTOR CLUB IS HOLDING ITS ANNUAL “DRIVE BACK IN TIME” OVER THIS WEEKEND

As we arrive around 4ish if you wish to join in the Keith Harms Cruise Back in Time which kicks off at 4.30 pm line join your Chev up with the participating vehicles assembling in Harper Ave outside the Crossley Shed and the Beechworth Bowls Club and join the ride.

Apart from the various food vans and fast food outlets two Hotels stand out for dinner and they are ………………

Hotel Nicholas at 1A Camp St                Tanswell Hotel at   50 Ford St    be warned both will probably have live music as this is party night.

GHOST TOURS

If you want a break from Classic Cars and wish to soak in the Beechworth vibes there is the famous Ghost Tour.

We are unable to book the Sat Night Ghost Tour as a Group (noise restrictions I believe) however if you go to Asylum Ghost Tours on the net tours can be booked.

 Be warned pre tour booking (no refunds) must occur and it takes around 90 minutes for the tour and costs $48 per person.

SUNDAY 5^th MAY

We have a tentative booking at the famous BEECHWORTH BAKEHOUSE at 9am for a coffee /breakfast and catch up however with all the town activity going on this may not occur at this time for those members displaying their vehicles.

In conjunction with Beechworth Old Cranks an area has been set aside in the Police Paddocks with all Chevs being able to be exhibited as there is nominal 25 year

or older cut off point and the COST of ENTRY is $5 per vehicle with at this stage an 8am start time……. could be altered on the day.

We are to enter the Display at the William St and High St entrances to the Police Paddocks as we are leaving at 12 noon and will be directed to our area.

All other exhibitor’s vehicles have to remain in place until 2pm.

Bring a chair or two so we can group up as usual and “chew the fat”.

There are trophies to be won and great machines to view.

If, however, you wish to again soak up the Beechworth vibes the following is on offer……

TOUR BEECHWORTH GAOL ………….at the corner of William and Ford St.

10am Tour which takes about 45min and costs $22 per concession and can be booked online at https://oldbeechworthgaol.com.au/ or purchased at the Gaol.

GOLD RUSH TOUR…………………………. Starts at the Tourist Centre 103 Ford St

10.15 am start at $5 per concession and runs for around 45 min.

BURKE MUSEUM………………………….at Loch St

10 am opening, over 30,000 items including a taxidermy THYLACINE and people of Beechworth display.  

 We must leave Beechworth at around 12 noon to travel to the Benalla Golf Club at 170 Mansfield Rd Benalla. for our 50^th Birthday lunch.
